The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has hired orthopedic spine surgeon Gannon Randolph. He is the ninth physician comprising the UAMS’ orthopedics and sports medicine practice in Northwest Arkansas.

UAMS is the orthopedic and sports medicine provider for the University of Arkansas athletics department.

“Dr. Randolph is an excellent addition to our team,” said C. Lowry Barnes, chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine. “Northwest Arkansas is a fast-growing part of our state, and therefore an incredibly important part of our mission to improve the health of all Arkansans.”

After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Oregon, he graduated magna cum laude from the Oregon Health Science University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency training at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center in Salt Lake City, followed by fellowship training in comprehensive spinal surgery at the University of California Los Angeles.

Randolph is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon with 18 years of experience. He has practiced medicine in Northwest Arkansas for 15 years, previously working at Ozark Orthopedics and as the director of the Mercy Hospital spine program. He is an emeritus president of the Arkansas Orthopedic Society.

“UAMS Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is the most advanced and comprehensive system to treat musculoskeletal problems in Arkansas,” Randolph said. “I am excited to be part of such a prestigious team and know that together we can continue my personal mission of returning patients to their best quality of life and activity.”

Randolph joins Wesley Cox, Chad Songy, Ramon Ylanan, Tyler L. CarlLee, Patrick Shea Brannan, Navin Kilambi, Larry Balle II and Bradley Reeves at UAMS Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Northwest Arkansas.

UAMS has two orthopedic and sports medicine clinics in Northwest Arkansas (Lowell and Fayetteville) to treat both athletes and community patients. Randolph will see patients at the Lowell clinic.

“Dr. Randolph brings a wealth of experience in spine surgery to UAMS,” Cox said. “We are lucky to have someone with his experience and fellowship-level training join our orthopedics and sports medicine team in Northwest Arkansas.”

UAMS is the state’s only academic medical campus. It has a satellite campus in Fayetteville.
