Gregg Behr to headline Amazeum educational event
About 150 educators are expected to attend an event geared toward reimagining child learning. Attendees will include thought leaders and field practitioners from area schools, museums, libraries, early learning centers and out-of-school programs.
The Scott Family Amazeum will host Learning Convening from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (March 5) at Thaden School in Bentonville. Sponsors include Walmart.org and the Walton Family Foundation.
The event will feature keynote speaker Gregg Behr, co-author of “When You Wonder, You’re Learning,” founder of Remake Learning and executive director of Pittsburgh-based The Grable Foundation.
Holland Hayden, senior manager of marketing and communications for the Amazeum, said Behr will provide insights on founding Remake Learning, “a network for educators and innovators that enriches Pittsburgh’s learning ecosystem by sparking relevant, engaging and equitable learning practices” for children.
Hayden said the event also will include a “guided discussion and dream casting session…as we imagine what is possible if we organize our community around the lives of children instead of around established systems.”
Attendees must register for the event, which includes dinner. Attendees will receive a copy of Behr’s book, and professional development credits are available.
“All community members who are dedicated to learning are invited to attend, extending beyond educators,” Hayden said. “We encourage those who are interested in attending to register quickly due to high demand and limited seating.”
Registration is $15. The deadline to register is March 1 or when tickets sell out, she said.
