Developer commissions temporary art installation for downtown Bentonville project
A real estate developer is working toward the completion of its first project in downtown Bentonville.
Sun Group, headed by president and COO Alexandra Tirado, is developing a 0.5-acre site at 500 S.W. B St. into Oak One, a trailside, for-sale townhome development valued at $17.5 million.
Oak One is a two-building development with 15 units ranging from 1,650 to 2,900 square feet. Tirado described Oak One as an “elevated home experience.” Units include herringbone flooring, custom teardrop crystal chandeliers, private fenced courtyards, skylights and smart toilets. Some units also come with elevators.
Unit sale prices are approximately $550 per square foot. Tirado said three units are pre-sold. Arvest Bank is financing construction, which should be completed by late summer. Red 5 Construction Services of Bentonville is the builder and BUF Studio of Bentonville is the architect. Limbird Real Estate Group in Rogers is the property’s listing agency.
Sun Group has also commissioned a temporary public art installation at the construction site. Tirado said “Tulips for Bentonville” is intended as a “thank you” to the neighborhood for their patience during the construction work. It is composed of 82 multi-colored tulip icons rendered with plastic snap-in pixels installed on the chain link fencing surrounding the job site.
Dayton Castleman with Rogers architecture firm Verdant Studio designed the art installation. Castleman also designed the neon installation “The Three Feathers” at 410 S.W. A St. in 2015.
The Oak One art installation will be unveiled during an event on Friday (March 1) from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tirado said materials and installation instructions for each tulip are packaged individually, allowing people to participate in the artwork’s installation.
