Trey Malone, an agricultural economist with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, was recently named the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Fellow. The two-year program focuses on sustainable agriculture efforts nationwide.

Malone conducts research through the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, the Division of Agriculture’s research arm. He is an assistant professor of agricultural economics and agribusiness in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the UA.

During the competitive annual selection process, one fellow is chosen from each SARE region: Northeast, North Central, Western and Southern.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) established SARE in 1988.
