Rogers-based real estate firm Limbird Real Estate Group is officially heading south.

Co-owner, CEO and principal broker Tara Limbird says the company closed a deal in late September to buy a 3,180-square-foot building at 3224 Old Greenwood Road in Fort Smith. According to county real estate records, the purchase price was $492,275 ($154.80 per square foot).

Limbird told the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal that after minor building upgrades and the necessary licensing, she hopes to have the office open later this fall.

Limbird said her mother (Brenda Harvel) and sister (Lindsey Harvel) joined the company earlier this year. They live in the Fort Smith metro and bring 30 years of combined experience in real estate careers covering Sebastian and Crawford counties and the surrounding area.

With a brick-and-mortar address, Limbird said the company will first hire an office manager and then begin to hire additional Fort Smith-based agents.

“We didn’t want to force a location that we didn’t like just to say we had one,” Limbird said. “This building came along, and it’s in a great area of Fort Smith.”

Limbird, who is a Fort Smith metro native, said she is excited to bring the company to her hometown.

“It’s fun to go back home,” she said.

Limbird and her husband, Nick Limbird, started The Limbird Team in 2010, working for RE/MAX Real Estate Results in Bentonville, a Northwest Arkansas affiliate of Denver-based real estate franchise company RE/MAX. They started operating as an independent brokerage in 2015, and the company has grown to include more than 30 agents and support staff.

In the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s annual ranking of the region’s largest residential real estate firms published this past March, Limbird Real Estate Group ranked No. 9 with a residential sales volume of $298.74 million in 2022. That’s according to the Northwest Arkansas Board of Realtors (NABOR) data and represented a 12.6% increase from 2021.

The company’s residential real estate team — The Limbird Team — is the state’s highest-producing team measured by residential sales volume.

Limbird Real Estate Group also has a property management division (Metro Property Management) and a title division (Harbor Closing & Title) and opened a Fayetteville office earlier this year.
