UA’s annual giving declines 33% in fiscal year 2023
The University of Arkansas raised $93 million in the 2023 fiscal year (July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023) in private gift support for students, faculty, programs and capital projects. That represents a 33% decrease from the 2022 fiscal year ($138 million) and an 11.4% drop from two years ago ($105 million).
In fiscal year 2020, the UA raised $322 million in new gifts. That was the final year of the university’s eight-year capital campaign, Campaign Arkansas, which raised nearly $1.45 billion.
The UA shared the latest fundraising totals in a news release Wednesday (Sept. 27). The $93 million raised includes cash gifts, gifts-in-kind, planned gifts and new pledges. UA officials said approximately $8.6 million was directed by donors for use as endowment when received.
According to the release, the UA received $173 million in cash payments on existing fundraising commitments.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to our generous benefactors and friends who help us continue to elevate the University of Arkansas to new heights,” Scott Varady, the university’s vice chancellor for advancement, said in the release. Varady, a UA alum and longtime senior administrator, succeeded Mark Power as vice chancellor earlier this year. “Their partnership and support are critical to our success as we are entrusted with the tremendous honor of fulfilling our mission of service to our students and our state.”
Varady was not immediately available for further comment.
