NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) announced an unofficial preliminary count of 8,409 academic-credit students on Tuesday (Sept. 5), the 11th day of classes for the fall semester. Enrollment jumped 7.27% from the same semester last year.

The college said it’s also the largest enrollment number since 2019. College officials said 2,534 of the students are enrolled concurrently while in high school, a record number of students in NWACC’s high school concurrent program.

“Congratulations to the faculty, staff, advisors, deans and administrators for continuing to put students first as is reflected in our fall semester preliminary numbers,”  NWACC President Dr. Dennis Rittle said in a news release. “Our collaborative and innovative efforts in how we serve students equates to their success as they enter the workforce or transfer to our partner universities. Together we succeed.”

In addition to academic-credit enrollment, the college also serves industry-credit students through workforce development, job training, adult education and other programs. The total enrollment count of academic-credit and industry-credit students on the 11th day brings the combined number of students served to 9,839.

Based in Bentonville, NWACC is the largest community college in Northwest Arkansas.
