Fayetteville-based Collier Drug Stores Inc., which will open its 10th location at 260 S. Gleneagle Drive in Cave Springs later this summer, has more real estate development plans in the pipeline.

According to Washington County property records, the company closed a deal on May 30 to buy a 3.3-acre lot in Johnson for $900,000 ($6.21 per square foot). The lot is next to Collier’s compounding and retail store on Willow Creek Boulevard.

Owner and President Mel Collier had this to say about development plans.

“We’re making calls and contacts currently to get a project in motion to move many of our current services along with many new services under one roof in a centralized location,” he said. “The Johnson exit is still just about the easiest exit on the I-49 corridor, and the extension of 56th Street from Highway 412 down to the Willow Creek Women’s Hospital part of the up-and-coming medical corridor in Northwest Arkansas, it made perfect sense for me to put the newest pharmacy model of Collier Drug on that map.”

With plenty of land to work with, Collier said future development of the Willow Creek lot would likely include some commercial lease spaces and some residential components.

“We have a green light for the project ideas from the city of Johnson with all needed utilities already on-site,” he said.
