Northwest Arkansas sales tax revenue up more than 14% in April report

Bentonville, Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers reported a combined sales tax revenue of $8.394 million in their April reports, up 14.2% from the same reporting month in 2022.

Through the first four reporting months of 2023, the combined cities’ sales tax revenue totaled $35.948 million, up 12% from the same period last year. The sales tax revenue is not adjusted for inflation which was up 5% year-over-year in April, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Rogers posted a 16.68% gain in sales tax revenue totaling nearly $2.122 million in the April report, the biggest gain reported this calendar year. Through the first four months, Rogers reports sales tax revenue of $9.175 million, up 8.55% from the same period last year.

Fayetteville also reported strong numbers in April with total sales tax revenue of $2.413 million, up 15.66% year over year. Fayetteville revenue year-to-date totals $10.39 million, up 10% from the year-ago period.

Bentonville posted another $2 million month, it’s third so far in calendar 2023. At $2.044 million, the city’s sales tax revenue reported in April was up 13.67% from a year ago. The city has added $8.72 million to its coffers in the first four months of this year, up 19.84% from the comparable months in 2022.

Springdale was the only city in the four to just miss double digit gains for the month. At $1.815 million, the city’s sales tax revenue reported in April was up 9.94% from the same month last year. Springdale reports total revenue of $7.662 million through the first four reporting months of this year, up 10.56% from the like period in 2022.
