Education nonprofit to honor Shelley Simpson

Economics Arkansas, a nonprofit educational organization that promotes economic literacy to K-12 students, will present the 2023 Excellence in Free Enterprise Award to J.B. Hunt Transport Services President Shelley Simpson.

Simpson became president of the Lowell-based carrier in August 2022. She joined the company in 1994.

“Simpson’s innovative leadership and commitment to company-wide advancement demonstrate the power of free enterprise to improve the lives of people across the state and nation,” Economics Arkansas said in a statement.

Economics Arkansas has presented the Excellence in Free Enterprise Awards since 2012, recognizing entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen. Previous recipients include Sam Walton (posthumously), J.B. and Johnelle Hunt, Don Tyson (posthumously), Mike Duke and Gov. Asa Hutchinson.
