The city of Paragould recently celebrated the official opening of the 8 Mile Creek Trail at the Rotary Park Trailhead.

Plans for the trail began in 2016 when the Greene County Future Fund began working with the city of Paragould for initiatives that could improve the quality of life in Greene County.

The city received ARDOT Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grants for the trail system. About $1.256 million has been awarded for the trail system.

“It’s exciting to live in a city where Ribbon Cuttings are the norm, we are lucky that this is the case, we are fortunate to live in a growing, prosperous area of the state,” Paragould Mayor Josh Agee said.

The 8 Mile Creek Trail will provide urban biking, hiking, and walking trails.

It connects city parks, downtown, and several of our public-school sites. The goal is to eventually connect to Crowley’s Ridge State Park, he said.
