Jennifer Hill Booker and Daniel Hintz are co-owners of Bauhaus Biergarten in downtown Springdale.

A new restaurant will bring a taste of Germany to downtown Springdale.

Bauhaus Biergarten is open at 326 Holcomb St. led by co-owners Daniel Hintz and executive chef Jennifer Hill Booker.

The restaurant has seven employees and is open Thursday and Friday from 4-10 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. The restaurant is closed Monday through Wednesday for private events. The owners hope to eventually add a Sunday brunch.

The owners are marketing the restaurant as an opportunity to experience the tastes of Europe without having to travel outside of the U.S.  They will also offer collaborative dinners with chefs from around the country and incorporate visual and performing arts as part of the concept programming.

The menu includes German-style Usinger’s bratwurst with kraut and onions, pickled vegetables, giant Bavarian pretzels, coarse brown mustard and charcuterie boards, and German-style beers in draft, bottle and cans. There’s also an array of German, Austrian and European wines.

Hintz and Booker have mutual experiences involving German food and culture. Booker, who once lived in Germany and is the culinary mind behind the restaurant, is a well-known chef and cookbook author and has had numerous national broadcast appearances on “The Today Show,” CNN and Food Network. She splits her time between Northwest Arkansas and Atlanta.

Hintz, who consults with organizations on community development through his role as founder and principal of Velocity Group of Bentonville, is originally from Milwaukee.
