The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) is seeking feedback on a 1-mile project to widen Arkansas Highway 102 in Centerton.

Plans show the two-lane highway would be widened to five lanes from Arkansas Highway 279 South to Highway 102B, or Main Street, in Centerton. A roundabout would be added at Highway 279. Highway 102 is five lanes east of Main Street.

ArDOT will host an in-person meeting on the project from 4-7 p.m. Thursday (July 14) at First Baptist Centerton, 351 W. Centerton Blvd., in Centerton. A virtual presentation is available online, and comments on the project will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. July 29.

According to the presentation, construction on the project is expected to start in 2025.

Dave Parker, ArDOT public information officer, said the estimated cost for the project is $5.3 million. He said, however, that the cost might be higher, pointing to how pricing is currently along with inflation.

Also, he noted the project doesn’t have an estimated completion date.
