Expanded behavioral health unit opens at Northwest Medical Center – Springdale
Springdale-based healthcare provider Northwest Health recently completed a $4.5 million expansion of the behavioral health unit at Northwest Medical Center – Springdale, according to a Wednesday (Feb. 9) news release.
The expansion added 28 adult behavioral health beds for acute care. The unit now has a total of 77 beds.
According to the release, Northwest Medical Center – Springdale is the only acute care hospital in Northwest Arkansas that offers adult behavioral health inpatient services.
“With the expansion of the behavioral health unit, we aim to provide individuals and families in the region with greater access to behavioral health services in a compassionate environment that is close to home,” said Jose Echavarria, interim CEO of Northwest Medical Center – Springdale.
The behavioral health services unit provides patients with medical assessment, psychiatric evaluation and group therapy. It also offers education and support to patients and their families. Adult treatment can address acute psychiatric illnesses, including bipolar disorder, severe anxiety and psychosis.
