A California-based trucking company is planning to develop land in Springdale to support operations for three subsidiaries.

Kal Freight, a primarily full truckload (FTL) carrier based in Ontario, Calif., recently bought six lots totaling 15.27 acres in Springdale along northbound Interstate 49, south of Wagon Wheel Road. The property is on Conestoga Street.

According to the Kal website, Kalvinder Singh and MP Singh started the business in 2014. It now has over 700 trucks, 2,000 trailers and more than 800 employees.

In 2019, two business partners joined the Singh brothers, and the company started diversifying through three subsidiaries:

  • Kal Trailers & Leasing, a network of dealerships and field offices providing long-term leasing and short-term rental services for over-the-road vans, flatbeds, refrigerated equipment and chassis.
  • Kal Tire, a commercial truck and bus radial (TBR) tire retailer and service center.
  • Kalpartz, a truck and trailer parts distributor.

Josh Adams, who develops business for the three subsidiaries in Northwest Arkansas, joined the company in March to establish a Kal Tire location in Tontitown. He said all three subsidiaries are in growth mode from coast to coast. The development planning for the Conestoga property is in the preliminary phase, but Adams hopes to start building “as soon as we can.” The property will likely have two or three buildings.

“The first thing we will look at doing is the tire service center,” Adams said.

Kal has eight employees in Northwest Arkansas. Adams did not disclose a total investment for the development. According to Benton County property records, Kal paid $3.8 million ($5.71 per square foot) for the property.

Steve Fineberg, principal of Steve Fineberg & Associates, represented the seller, and Michelle Brock with C&A Commercial — the commercial division of Fayetteville-based Collier & Associates — represented the buyer.
