Trucking company buys I-49 land in Springdale for possible expansion
A California-based trucking company may be targeting an expansion in Northwest Arkansas.
An affiliate of KAL Freight Inc. recently paid $3.8 million for six lots totaling 15.27 acres in Springdale along northbound Interstate 49, south of Wagon Wheel Road. The property is on Conestoga Street near Rexel, an electrical supply store, and Welsco, an industrial gas and welding supply distributor. The purchase price equals $5.71 per square foot.
The land could be the site of a new facility. KAL Freight officials did not answer a request for comment.
Steve Fineberg, principal of Steve Fineberg & Associates, represented the seller, and Michelle Brock with Collier & Associates represented the buyer. In an email, Brock was not able to disclose KAL Freight’s development plans.
KAL Freight is a primarily full truckload (FTL) carrier based in Ontario, Calif., according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The company has more than 600 trucks and 1,500 trailers with distribution warehouses in Texas, Indiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Georgia, North Carolina and New Jersey.
