The Northwest Arkansas chapter of the national nonprofit Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFPNWA) will honor several organizations and individuals for their involvement in the philanthropic process.

AFPNWA is hosting this year’s National Philanthropy Day (NPD) virtually on Wednesday (Nov. 17) at noon. The event is open to the public and free to view online. Viewing information can be found at AFPNWA’s Facebook page or through the chapter website.

The 2021 honorees are:

  • Laurice Hachem and Mechelle Meredith-Ehardt; Outstanding Philanthropists
  • Meredith Lowry; Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser
  • Dee Vaughn; Outstanding Fundraising Executive
  • Carl Collier; Lifetime Achievement Award
  • The Kraft Heinz Co.; Outstanding Corporation
  • American Electric Power Foundation; Outstanding Foundation
  • Brightwater; COVID-19 Hero Award
  • KUAF 91.3 Public Radio; Special NPD Judges Award

Last year, more than 130 AFP chapters across North America held NPD events and activities on or near Nov. 15. That’s the official date observed annually by AFP to celebrate charitable activities.
