The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers, has recognized Mercy Hospital in Rogers as one of the best small teaching hospitals in patient care. The hospital earned an “A” grade from Leapfrog’s twice annual ratings of more than 2,200 hospitals.

“It’s particularly gratifying to receive news of this recognition while our co-workers are facing the extraordinary challenges of a global pandemic and rising to the occasion and beyond,” said Eric Pianalto, president of Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas. “This award reflects the sacrifices and dedication of all Mercy co-workers, from our physicians to our environmental services team. I’m so proud of their tireless work in serving our community with the best in patient care.”

There were 105 hospitals recognized, which is about 5% of the total considerations. Mercy Northwest was the only hospital in Arkansas to receive the award. Hospitals are awarded based on the quality of care they provide for their patients. The methodology includes analysis of infection rates, practices for safer surgery, maternity care and the hospital’s record of preventing medication errors. Hospitals must rank highest among their peers on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey to earn the recognition.
