Who’s the top female founder in Arkansas? Look to Bentonville

Who is the female founder who has raised the most funding in Arkansas?

According to London-based Business Financing, the answer to that question is an entrepreneur who works in Bentonville.

Using Crunchbase data, Business Financing, a business finance and lending research and information website publisher, recently compiled a list of founders with the most funding in all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C.

At the top? Rebekah Neumann of New York. She and her husband Adam Neumann co-founded WeWork, and she is credited with helping raise $19.5 billion in funding. Georgia’s Kathryn Petralia is next on the list. Her fintech company Kabbage has raised $2.5 billion from investors.

Who topped the list in Arkansas? April Seggebruch, who’s helped Bentonville software firm Movista raise $13.3 million in funding, according to Business Financing.

“It’s an honor to be listed alongside of these fellow entrepreneurs,” Seggebruch told the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal. “We’re all playing a critical role in job creation, which is more important now than ever before. It’s no secret that it’s the entire Movista team that has made our success possible.”

Seggebruch and Stan Zylowski, both University of Arkansas graduates, founded Movista in 2010. The company’s cloud-based software allows companies to manage their distributed workforces via smart devices.

In September 2018, the company secured $12 million in venture capital financing. The round was led by New York-based growth equity fund Level Equity, a software-focused growth specialist with $1.65 billion in assets under management.
