The Arkansas Bankers Association (ABA) installed Rogers bank executive Jon Harrell as the organization’s 2020-21 chairman. The one-year term began in April.

Harrell is the chairman and CEO of Generations Bank and president and CEO of the holding company, Harrell Bancshares Inc. Both are headquartered in Rogers.

Harrell is the fifth generation of Harrell family bankers to lead the company since its founding in October 1907. The company relocated its charter from the tiny south Arkansas town of Hampton to Northwest Arkansas in 2019.

Harrell started his banking career with the Arkansas State Bank Department in 1988. He is a graduate of The Graduate School of Banking at LSU, and previously served a three-year term on the ABA board of directors and was the 2019-20 chairman-elect.

A cabinet member of the St. Mary’s Heritage Society, Harrell attends and is active in the NWA Fellowship Church community where he and his wife, Sheila, serve as Community Group coaches.

Other ABA officers installed for the upcoming year include chairman-elect Jim Cargill, Arvest Bank, Little Rock; vice chairman Randy Scott, Farmers Bank and Trust, Blytheville; and treasurer Tom Grumbles, First Service Bank, Greenbrier.

The Arkansas Bankers Association was established in 1891. It is the state’s largest and oldest banking industry organization and represents banks, bank holding companies and savings & loans in Arkansas with a variety of member services, including educational programs, products and services, publications and a comprehensive government relations program.
