A partnership with Arkansas State University and the city of Jonesboro has led to an app that Jonesboro’s JET bus riders can use to see their buses online in real time.

Parker Jones and Henry Torres of ASU’s Computer and Information Technology Department created the web design that operates just like an actual mobile app on any cellphone, desktop, laptop or tablet screen.

The feature can be added to any home screen by entering jet.astate.edu in any Safari web browser on Apple mobile devices and the Google Chrome web browser on Android devices.

JET Director Michael Black said this a great new feature for riders.

“It will show you exactly where your next bus is, and you can see how long it will take to get to your stop,” Black said. “We are very grateful to ASU and these brilliant gentlemen for their work.”

Mayor Harold Perrin said he appreciates the collaboration with the university leaders and hopes having the app available on cellphones will make JET more efficient and comfortable for riders.

“To know exactly where you bus is, I think, will grow ridership, and it will certainly ease the minds of all the people using JET right now,” Perrin said. “This only enhances our bus program, which already breaks ridership records every year.”
