Connections: United Bank announces new board chairman

Springdale-based United Bank has appointed Darrin Pitts as chairman of its board of directors. Pitts has served on the board for the past seven years. Donnie Pitts, his brother, has been added to the eight-person board.

They are the sons of the late Don Pitts, the former chairman of United Holding Co., the family owned entity that owns United Bank and United Built Homes (UBH). Pitts died Sept. 9 from cancer. He was 80.

Darrin Pitts is president of UBH, which marked its 60th anniversary last year. Donnie Pitts is the company’s executive vice president.

United Bank’s board also includes Micki Harrington, John Ervin, John Scott, Nathan Gairhan, Nick Hobbs and Craig Young.

Don Pitts started United Bank in 1978 after purchasing an Ashdown bank charter known as Little River Savings & Loan Association. The bank today has assets of about $201 million, with four locations in Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale (2).
