Experience Fayetteville, the convention and visitors bureau for the city of Fayetteville, has hired two new employees and promoted a third.

Hazel Hernandez, formerly director of marketing and communications, has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. Along with continuing to carry out Experience Fayetteville’s advertising and public relations efforts, Hernandez now will oversee all sales efforts, which includes attracting sporting events, meetings and conventions.

“Hazel has been an integral part in shaping our organization’s growth over the past several years, particularly through our rebranding efforts,” said Molly Rawn, executive director for Experience Fayetteville. “In her expanded role, she will have an even greater impact on our organization and city.”

The two new employees are Amy Stockton and Julia Cherry. Stockton will serve as director of operations and destination development. She previously was the membership manager for the Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville. Cherry is the new operations manager, having formerly been an account manager in the healthcare industry.

Cherry is spearheading renovations to the Fayetteville Visitors Center, which is currently closed to the public, and will oversee day-to-day operations of the new space once completed.

Stockton’s new role of destination development — a tourism-industry role increasingly found in large destination marketing organizations — will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s strategic planning, including community engagement and managing the tourism funding process.
