David Bailey announces for Benton County district court judge
Siloam Springs Prosecuting Attorney David Bailey announced his candidacy Monday (July 15) for Benton County District Judge serving Siloam Springs.
Judge Stephen Thomas is not seeking re-election and Bailey is the first candidate to officially announce for the position. The nonpartisan judicial primary is March 3, 2020.
“David has proven himself to be an outstanding attorney and a hard worker for his clients, for Siloam Springs and for all of Benton County,” Gravette Mayor Kurt Maddox said in a statement. “He stood strong against drunk driving while serving as the prosecuting attorney for Siloam Springs for nearly 20 years. I believe he will make an excellent judge.”
Bailey, an attorney for 23 years in Benton County, works in the area of family and civil law in Siloam Springs. He said safety would be a top priority if elected district judge.
“I make no apologies for the fact that as a prosecuting attorney my record is being tough on guilty DWI drivers,” Bailey said. “I worked with our state lawmakers in making our DWI laws tougher for drunk drivers who cross our borders from the casino in Oklahoma or from Missouri.”
Bailey and his wife, Carla, live near Gravette.
