Connections: Vold Vision recruits surgeon from California

Vold Vision in Fayetteville has hired Dr. George Tanaka, who has more than 20 years of experience and is a nationally recognized glaucoma sub-specialist.
“Our mission since we first opened the Vold Vision doors is to create a center of excellence providing our Northwest Arkansas community with complete sub-specialty care and technology that rivals any clinic in the country,” Dr. Steven Vold, chief medical officer of Vold Vision, said in a statement. “The addition of Dr. Tanaka is yet another step in that direction.”
Tanaka specializes in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma and anterior segment surgery. He has an engineering degree from Princeton and is a graduate of Harvard Medical School. Tanaka completed his fellowship training in glaucoma at Northwestern University, and he has also conducted two years of biomedical eye research at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary before completing his residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
Tanaka also serves as the co-director of the glaucoma service at California Pacific Medical Center, where he’s been a tenured faculty member for more than two decades.
