Five lubricant distributors across the southeastern United States, including Mid-South Sales of Jonesboro, have merged to form Cadence Petroleum Group of Asheboro, N.C. Along with Mid-South Sales, the new company includes Pugh Lubricants of Asheboro, Apollo Oil of Winchester, Ky., Veteran’s Oil of Bessemer, Ala., and Halco Lubricants of Norcross, Ga.

The five companies announced Monday (March 18) the formation of Cadence Petroleum Group, and that they will continue to operate at 20 existing locations and service areas across the southeastern United States. Existing leadership will remain at each of the companies, and customers will continue to see familiar trucks, drivers and customer service professionals they’ve come to know. The five companies have more than 200 years of combined service, according to a news release.

Robert Romano is the new CEO of Cadence Petroleum Group. “We have two huge advantages right from the start,” Romano said in a statement. “If you look at how well our five businesses have served the customer in the past — when that’s your jumping off point, that’s truly remarkable. Pair that with our singular focus as a combined organization, and it’s really exciting what we’re going to be able to do together.”

Murray Benton of Mid-South Sales and Alan Parker of Halco Lubricants are encouraged about the future of the companies and the group as a whole. “We’re going to continue to do right by our customers in Arkansas and the surrounding states, and we have incredibly strong backing from the group,” Benton said. “It’s an ideal situation for all of us.”

“This will add value to what we are able to bring to our branded supplier partners,” Parker said. “We were a great partner prior to the merger, and now with the size and scale of the merged organization, we can bring added strength to all of them.”

The new group of companies plan to continue to expand deliveries of lubricants and fuels across automotive, commercial and industrial customers in 2019, and will focus on efficiency and improving the ease of partnering with customers. “When a company really hits its stride, when they find their cadence, it’s easier to do business,” said Mike Pugh, president of the new group. “There’s a trust. There’s reliability, and there’s value. That’s what we’re going to achieve together for the benefit of our customers.”
