Langford re-appointed to Arkansas State University board of trustees
Gov. Asa Hutchinson has appointed Dr. Tim Langford of Little Rock, a 1983 graduate of Arkansas State University, to a second five-year term on the ASU Board of Trustees.
A Searcy native, Langford was first appointed by Gov. Mike Beebe in 2014 and served as chair of the ASU Board in 2018. His reappointment expires in January 2024. ASU System President Chuck Welch said Langford has been a valuable member of the board and provided key leadership in multiple areas of the system’s growth.
“We are very pleased that Dr. Langford will continue on the board and appreciate Governor Hutchinson’s confidence in his service,” Welch said. “He has provided exemplary leadership in many areas, and when you consider the addition of the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine, our Mexico and Mid-South campuses, and unprecedented athletics success, his past five years on the board have been some of the most extraordinary in ASU’s history. We’re grateful for his contributions and are fortunate to continue with his sound leadership and wise counsel.”
Langford was pleased to be chosen for a second term.
“The past five years have been amazing for the ASU System, and it has been a privilege to serve my alma mater and our incredible two-year institutions alongside my fellow trustees. We have much work to do, and I look forward to seeing our newer initiatives mature and being part of even more system wide growth for the benefit of our students and faculty.“
Langford is the president of Arkansas Urology, a large independent urology group in Little Rock. He also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Urology at University of Arkansas Medical Sciences.
Langford graduated magna cum laude from ASU in 1983, where he was an All-Southland Conference quarterback. He won a National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Award in 1983, was elected to the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2017, and was inducted into the A-State Football Ring of Honor in 2008.
He and his wife, Terri, are 1924 Sustaining Life Members of the ASU Alumni Association and members of the Red Wolves Foundation. After receiving his medical degree from UAMS in 1988, Langford’s postgraduate training included two years of general surgery followed by urology residency at UAMS. He joined Arkansas Urology in 1993.
In addition to service on the ASU Board, Dr. Langford has served his community and state in several leadership roles, including member of the Arkansas Coordinating Board of Higher Education, Chief of Staff at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock (2015-2016), and member of the board of Arkansas Mutual.
