Lowell-based carrier J.B. Hunt Transport Services will work with visibility systems provider project44 to integrate its visibility system into the carrier’s software platform J.B. Hunt 360. The system will allow customers to view real-time shipment information regardless of the carrier and will eliminate the need for multiple platforms.

“The challenges our customers are facing today require greater visibility into their transportation network,” said Shelley Simpson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer for J.B. Hunt. “By integrating project44 technology within J.B. Hunt 360, customers can view and manage multi-carrier freight from a single platform, helping them streamline operations and meet their supply chain goals.”

J.B. Hunt 360 connects shippers to carriers using artificial intelligence, provides visibility of operations in the supply chain and offers features to automate daily tasks. The technology that project44 will bring to J.B. Hunt 360 will enhance its ability to cut costs, increase efficiency and improve service.

“J.B. Hunt continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible within the transportation market by investing in innovative technologies that deliver seamless, digital service on a large scale,” said Jett McCandless, CEO and founder of project44. “Their confidence in project44 demonstrates the importance of connecting, automating and providing visibility into key transportation processes and further reinforces the tremendous opportunity that exists for organizations that digitally transform and modernize their operations.”

project44 offers visibility platforms to shippers and third-party logistics companies and has prebuilt connections to thousands of carriers worldwide and electronic logging and telematics devices. J.B. Hunt recently has been working to expand the capabilities and offerings of its technology platform. In August, the company established a rewards program for third-party carriers and their drivers through Carrier 360 by J.B. Hunt, a digital component of J.B. Hunt 360 to help carriers save money, increase driving time, and improve their experience.

Also, J.B. Hunt has worked to develop innovative solutions to meet the digital needs of the supply chain. In 2017, the company announced a five-year, $500 million investment into developing disruptive technology, enhancing operating systems and infrastructure. The investment has allowed J.B. Hunt to see deeper into the supply chain, add automated capabilities and attract technology and logistics workers.
