Real Estate Roundup: Jonesboro School District deal tops in recent land deals

The Jonesboro School District made the most significant residential and commercial property transfer in Craighead County between Jan. 1 and Feb. 15, according to the Craighead County Assessor’s Office.

The school district spent $2.5 million to buy 13.5 acres from Trinity Church. The property is listed at 701 East Highland Drive and is about a mile from the district’s campus. The deal was closed Jan. 16. Haag-Brown principal Josh Brown was one of the agents who represented the school district. What the property will be used for has not been disclosed, according to the school’s board minutes.

School board members voted to buy the property in October, but the deal was delayed until the congregation at the church could vote to finalize the sale, according to the board minutes.

In the second largest land deal, Southwest Valley spent $1.15 million on the former Beverly Health & Rehab property located at 800 Southwest Drive. It includes 3.6 acres, and an 87,120-square-foot building. However, a demolition permit for the building was issued June 21, 2017. It was bought from First National Bank. Attempts by Talk Business & Politics to reach the new owner or owners were unsuccessful. The sale was finalized Jan. 23.
