Murphy-Hoffman Co. to open new dealership in Springdale by mid-summer
Truck dealer Murphy-Hoffman Co., or MHC, based in Leawood, Kan., has started construction on a 65,800-square-foot dealership on 12.3 acres at Interstate 49 and Wagon Wheel Road in north Springdale.
On Oct. 12, L. Peters Construction of Overland Park, Kan., received a $5.22 million building permit for the project at 4678 N. 45th St. In December 2016, MHC purchased 11.56 acres there for $1.82 million.
“MHC is expanding its existing location as a reinvestment to better serve the many customers of the Northwest Arkansas region,” branch manager Jacob Ott said. “The new building has amenities such as a spacious driver’s lounge with washer/dryer, break rooms, training rooms, show rooms, expanded bays, a paint booth and a parts warehouse. We operate with state-of-the-art equipment including geothermal heating and cooling, down draft paint booths, translucent overhead doors and energy-efficient LED lighting.”
Construction is expected to be completed mid-summer 2018. The architect is Dave Williams of Finkle + Williams Architecture.
The existing 31,500-square-foot dealership on 4.8 acres at 4720 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale has 61 employees. More will be hired to work at the new location, but the amount has yet to be determined. Also, what will happen to the existing location once the new location opens in mid-summer has not be determined.
“We will have excellent visibility from I-49 and improved access to our facility with more parking availability,” Ott said. “The number of bays has increased to improve service and body shop capacity and, of course, state of the art technology.”
MHC has more than 100 locations in 16 states, including 68 heavy- and medium-duty truck dealers, 32 MHC Truck Leasing locations, four Carrier Transicold locations and a wholly-owned finance company, MHC Financial Services. MHC sells Volvo, Kenworth, Hino, Ford and Isuzu trucks.
