College Avenue in Fayetteville is going to the dogs — at least at 2407 N. College Ave.

Following the success of its first property, a Little Rock-based company is expanding to Fayetteville with the second location of Hound’s Lounge Pet Resort & Spa. It’s expected to open to four-legged clientele by late summer or early fall 2018 at the former Daisy Exchange building.

Hound’s Lounge owners Mandy Marshall and Justin Harris, through their Hounds Properties LLC, bought the 8,868-square-foot building in October for $550,000.

Hound’s Lounge opened in July 2016 at 1711 Rebsamen Park Road in Little Rock. In addition to the Fayetteville store, the owners are also planning future locations in North Little Rock and Bentonville.

Commercial real estate broker Zack Kifer with Moses Tucker Real Estate represented the company with the Fayetteville property acquisition.

Hound’s Lounge is a pet boarding and grooming provider, offering cage-free indoor and outdoor play areas, luxury “hotel” suites and professional grooming. Rates average about $20 a day for day care and around $40 for overnight boarding. Hounds Lounge also supplies shampoo, towels and other necessities for pet owners to bathe their dogs, rather than bathing them at home.

The facility will be staffed round-the-clock seven days a week.

A conditional use permit filed with the city proposes approximately 75 kennels with an average daytime and nighttime population of 55 pets. Holiday and high traffic weekends could be double that.

The new owners are planning to add an enclosed fenced (uncovered) area of about 2,000 square feet, to be used for the pets’ outdoor activities and exercise.
