Jonesboro hires Calloway as new grants administrator

The city of Jonesboro has hired Tiffny Calloway as its new grants administrator. Calloway, who spent the past six months at the Delta Regional Authority and the previous two years at the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, will oversee the city’s five-person grants department. She will also take on the added responsibility of community development. Calloway will replace Kimberly Marshall, who resigned effective Oct. 13.

“I’ve worked on a state and federal level and having an opportunity to work on a local level is exciting because I’ve never had that opportunity before,” said Calloway, a Pine Bluff native who was a Distinguished Service Award Graduate from Arkansas State University and Student Government Association President as a senior in 2006-07.

”And because I call Jonesboro home, I’ve had an opportunity to watch Jonesboro grow over the last 14 years. Working in this field, I’ve learned that community development is the foundation of economic development. Economic success all starts with improving the community,” she said.

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin said the grants department is critical. It’s the only source of income for the city other than sales tax and private donations.

“Tiffny has the experience and the contacts to make the most of such an important facet of our city government,” Perrin said. “She can connect those dots that bring so many resources to Jonesboro.”

Calloway was regional manager for community development for AEDC from November 2014 until March 2017, working with regional partners and communities to create programs and services that spur economic development. She built on those skills with the Delta Regional Authority, serving a three-state region as principal liaison to federal, state and local leaders on economic and community development.
