George’s Inc. is conducting a search to replace a departing member of its executive team.

Glen Balch, vice president of human resources for the Springdale poultry company, has announced his retirement, effective Sept. 9. He has worked for the company for the past 27 years.

In a memo to employees sent Aug. 8, Charles George, a co-CEO and president of the company, said Balch will stay on in a consulting role through the transition with his replacement.

“We have launched a national search and, at the appropriate time, will announce Glen’s successor,” George wrote in the email. “We are grateful for Glen’s past and continued service to George’s.”

George’s has more than 4,700 employees and operations in Arkansas, Missouri and Virginia. The company recently announced the hiring of former Tyson Foods exec Bryan McDuffie as vice president of transportation. Robert Garlington was also promoted recently to senior vice president of operations.
