Northwest Arkansas residential building permits up 21.4% in first two months of 2017
Permit values for residential construction in the region’s four largest cities were up through the first two months of the year compared to 2016.
Residential permit values from January and February totaled a combined $81.43 million for Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale, an increase of 21.4% compared to $67.05 million from the same period a year ago.
New residential construction for single-family homes is heaviest in Fayetteville and Bentonville through the first two months of the year.
Fayetteville led the growth with 118 permits issued valued at $25.38 million. That compares to 65 permits and a value of $15 million in the same two-month period in 2016.
Bentonville issued 92 permits in January and February with a combined value of $25.83 million. That compares to 89 permits and a value of $26.61 million in the same two-month period of 2016.
In Rogers there were 55 permits valued at $16.75 in January and February. That’s down slightly from 66 permits and $13.29 million in 2016.
Springdale has also issued more permits this year than last. In January and February the city issued permits to start 50 new homes, with a combined value of $13.47 million. In the same two-month period of 2016, there were 48 building permits valued at $12.15 million.
