U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Rogers, has been selected as a vice chair for one of 12 appropriations subcommittees for the 115th Congress.

According to a statement from House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen, R-N.J., Womack will serve as vice chair of the labor, health and human services subcommittee.

“From education to life-saving research at the National Institutes of Health, Labor-HHS provides the funding for and oversight of federal programs that impact every single American,” Womack said.  “As this subcommittee’s vice chairman, I am honored to be given the responsibility and challenge of overseeing the programs on which so many depend.”

Frelinghuysen added: “The vice chairs of the appropriations subcommittees are essential to the work of the committee.
