Walmart U.S. grocery competitors rank atop ‘Temkin Experience’ survey
Florida-based grocer Publix scored the highest for customer experience in the 2017 Temkin Experience Rating. Publix received a rating of 84% putting it a category by itself. Temkin recently surveyed 10,000 consumers on customer service metrics of 331 companies from 20 different industries.
The rating for Walmart U.S. improved in 2017 from a 64% rating in 2016. While the rating was better the company slipped from No. 110 to No. 137 as its score did not rise as much as other companies in the survey.
Supermarkets dominated the top five spots in this year’s survey. Fast food and retailers and one bank also rounded out the top 5. Several of the companies scored the same percentage. The highest ranking grocers in this year’s report include:

Food Lion 81%
Trader Joe’s 81%
Winn Dixie 80%
Save-A-Lot 80%
Wegmans 80%
AmazonFresh 80%
Fast Food giant Chick-fil-A ranked just below Publix at 83% and No. 2 overall in the survey. Region’s Bank scored 82% along with Chipolte Mexican Grill and Hardee’s for and overall third place ranking.
In the retail category Sam’s Club scored 80%, slightly below competitor BJ’s Wholesale at 81%. Other retailer’s scoring ahead of Wal-Mart Stores include:
