Fayetteville restaurant Stone Mill to open second location in Bentonville
A staple of Fayetteville’s restaurant scene for two decades is opening a second location in Bentonville.
Stone Mill Café, an off-shoot of Stone Mill Bread & Flour Co., is leasing 3,100 square feet of a new 6,504-square-foot commercial building in the Metro Market shopping center at the corner of South Walton Boulevard and Southeast 28th Street. It’s one of two single-story buildings nearing completion at Metro Market, which is owned by Bentonville businessman Matt Mawby. Clinard Construction Management of Bentonville is leading the project, and Springdale-based Legacy National Bank is providing financing with a $2 million loan.
Stone Mill’s Bentonville location at 2903 S. Walton Blvd. is on target to open sometime in March with approximately 15 full-time employees. The original location was founded in May 1997 by Dan and Karen Dantzler. The Bentonville store is owned by their daughter Dana Comer and her husband Terry Comer. They live in Bella Vista.
A spokeswoman for the family said the new location will have essentially the same menu as the Fayetteville store, known for its expansive sandwich and soup menu, chicken and dumplings and a variety of breads baked daily on-site.
The Bentonville store will have a couple of new customer service features, most notable being a drive-through pickup window, where patrons can pick up food orders made in advance.
Tentative store hours are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store will be closed on Sundays.
Mawby said he is still marketing the building to other tenants.
In the larger building (7,836 square feet) under construction across the parking lot at 102 S.E. 28th St., Mawby said one tenant with a signed lease already is Snack Lab, a new retail-restaurant concept created by Bobby Bland and Emily Amadon and featuring healthy and convenient snacks and grab-and-go meals. It’s also expected to open in March.
