UA among best values for online master’s of engineering in mechanical engineering
The University of Arkansas is one of the top 30 schools in the nation for offering the best value when it comes to getting an online master’s of engineering in mechanical engineering, according to a new survey from the higher education and career website BestCollegeValues.com
The UA ranked No. 24, ahead of six other schools including the University of Central Florida (No. 25), the University of Alabama (No. 26), Villanova University (No. 27), the University of Cincinnati (No. 28), Virginia Commonwealth University (No. 29) and Johns Hopkins University (No. 30).
“The College of Engineering offers an Online Master of Engineering with a high degree of flexibility so students can focus on an engineering specialization that matches their professional trajectory,” said BCV’s Brett Gershon, adding that the program incorporates classes “from the traditional master of science degrees in Biological, Chemical, Civil, Computer Systems, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical, and Transportation Engineering, as well as Operations Management into their course of study.”
The university’s degree plan requires a minimum of 30 credits with a tuition of $10,650.
The top five schools — from Nos. 1 to 5 — include Georgia Institute of Technology, Texas A&M University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Texas and University of Wisconsin.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, those with a master’s degree can earn an average of $400,000 more over their careers than those who hold a bachelor’s and the number of jobs for managers with engineering training is predicted to grow at a rate above the national average for job growth in the coming years.
