Talk Business & Politics Daily: The Delta revival edition
Sit down with Chris Masingill, co-chair of the Delta Regional Authority, and you’ll soon hear the gospel of how investing in the Delta is working to turnaround the long-struggling region.
Masingill is a guest on Wednesday’s Talk Business & Politics Daily and he’s ginned up about the newest group of leaders recruited to the DRA’s leadership institute.
“This is an exciting time for the Delta Regional authority. We are about to launch our 12th class of the Delta Leadership Institute. We’ve had almost 450 members go through the executive academy that now are part of the alumni group called the Delta Leadership Network and they still stay connected, work on projects, and meet on a regular basis,” he says.
After a leadership conference in New Orleans, the DRA is set to launch more economic development investments in the Delta region, which covers parts of Arkansas and seven other states.
“We are also in the final stages of our economic development investment cycle. So we will be investing in about $31 million worth of projects this cycle thanks to members of our Senate and Congressional delegations across the 8 states, being led by Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi),” Masingill said. “We will have several good projects to announce here in the next week or so that will touch small business and entrepreneurship, infrastructure, workforce training and education, transportation and infrastructure – so those are going to be some good projects.”
