Beaver Water District named in top 20 public drinking water systems
Beaver Water District in Lowell was named among the top 20 public drinking water systems in the country for 2016 by the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies.
The AMWA announced the awards Oct. 17 at its annual Executive Management Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Beaver Water District was one of 10 systems given the AMWA’s Platinum Award for Utility Excellence, recognizing outstanding achievement in implementing the nationally recognized Attributes of Effective Utility Management, according to a press release from the association.
The association commended the district’s outreach efforts, its goal of 100% compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and its updated asset management plan.
The other platinum awardees were Fort Wayne City Utilities of Indiana, the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities of Kansas, KC Water of Kansas City, Mo., City of Mesa Water Resources Department of Arizona, Phoenix Water Services Department, City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department of North Carolina, San Antonio Water System, Suffolk County Water Authority of Oakdale, N.Y., and Tacoma Water of Washington.
Five systems were presented the Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance and five systems received the Sustainable Water Utility Management Award, recognizing a balance of successful efforts in the area of economic, social and environmental endeavors
