Two Arkansas health providers receive $1.755 million federal grants
Two Arkansas providers are receiving $1.755 million in federal funding in fiscal year 2016 to reduce chronic health problems.
Augusta-based ARCARE is receiving $900,000, while Lake Village-based Greater Delta Alliance for Health is receiving $855,000, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The money will support collaborative health efforts using evidence-based models to combat diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, stroke and behavioral health issues. The program requires health care providers to work across counties and help strengthen knowledge of health risks and disease management.
The awards are part of the Delta States Rural Development Network Grant Program. The grants are funded by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy at the Health Resources and Services Administration. The program is implemented in partnership with the Delta Regional Authority, a federally funded agency serving 252 counties in the Delta.
A total of eight states are receiving $10 million.
