Zombies part of youth movie camp, video production workshops
The 12th Annual T Tauri Movie Camp will launch from Batesville, Ark., on July 18 and run through the end of the month. The camp offers a variety of video production workshops for ages 8 to 18.
Workshops – the 2016 schedule features four – range from two to four days in length. The camp culminates in a public screening of the videos produced from the workshops. Offerings in 2016 include Script to Screen, Home Town Doc, Brickfilms and Depicting Zombies.
In Script to Screen, workshop participants experience the entire movie making process, producing a short narrative video in three and a half days. Cost is $100 per person.
In Home Town Doc, participants will create a documentary that explores the changes that have taken place in downtown Batesville over the past five years. Students will acquire documentary related skills they can then apply to making movies about their own hometowns. Cost is $75 per person.
In Brickfilms, students and their filmmaker/instructors will brainstorm a concept and then work to develop a visual strategy that advances the concept through the creation of a storyline. The storyline is then communicated visually through LEGO pieces and stop motion animation. Cost is $60 per person.
Lastly, Depicting Zombies will give students an overview of the history of zombies in folklore, literature and film. In addition to instruction in basic filmmaking skills like frame composition and lighting, participants will learn make-up and costuming techniques that transform living people into the walking dead. Finally, they will create their own zombie look and produce themed zombie portraits in both photographs and video. Cost is $60 per person.
