Talk Business & Politics Daily: Gov. Hutchinson outlines ballot issue positions
On today’s Talk Business & Politics Daily, Gov. Asa Hutchinson stakes out his position on three proposals likely to be on the November ballot.
Hutchinson said he’s against medical marijuana because it needs more medical backing.
“Yes, I’m opposed to it because I believe that while we want to provide medicine to anyone that needs it, this opens up a lot of doors that causes more problems than it solves,” he said.
“If there should be changes in it, it should be based upon recommendations from the medical community,” Hutchinson added.
He also said he’s long been opposed to casino expansion and does not favor a new proposal to allow three counties – Boone, Miller and Washington – to be locations for future casinos. Hutchinson said he’s undecided at this time on a medical tort reform proposal.
In addition to the governor’s remarks, Talk Business & Politics runs through three numbers worth exploring. Find out the significance of $970 million, $293,500, and $54.5 million in our Inside the Numbers segment.
