Fayetteville A&P relocates office, interim director appointment coming soon
The Fayetteville Visitors Bureau will soon move to its new offices in the historic Walker-Stone House in Downtown Fayetteville. The commission recently completed its purchase of the site for $750,000 from law partners Hugh Kincaid, David Horne, and Bass Trumbo, who ran their law firm from the location for nearly four decades.
The A&P paid $200,000 more than the appraised value, providing a charitable receipt for the difference. Commissioners plan to relocate their administrative office into the hour and are also exploring opportunities to designate the grounds as a public park. Commissioner are also pursuing partnerships with other local organization to operate a museum on the ground floor of the home.
“I am excited and honored to be the new owners of this Fayetteville landmark,” said Matthew Petty, chairman of the commission. “Our history should be accessible to everyone; it comes alive when people can visit places and imagine themselves in another time and setting.”
Commissioners said they will consider renovating the property and provide for maintenance plans for the facility and surrounding grounds in the coming months.
An interim director for the Fayetteville A&P is expected to be announced soon, according to spokesman Kody Ford. He would not comment about the search for a permanent director.
