Donald Judges was appointed as interim vice provost for distance education and head of the Global Campus, for the University of Arkansas, effective July 1. He will serve a full-year term in this role, according to release from the UA Thursday (April 21). Judges is replacing Javier Reyes, who is exiting the UA June 30, to become dean of the College of Business & Economics at West Virginia University.

Reyes has led the Global Campus since July 2012, and has served the Sam M. Walton College of Business in several capacities since 2003, including associate dean of undergraduate studies and executive education and professor of economics.

Judges isn’t new to the Global Campus as he has served as interim associate vice provost for distance education and second-in-command of the Global Campus since May 2015. Since then, he has spent half his time working with the Global Campus and the other half teaching courses as the School of Law’s E.J. Ball Professor of Law.

“Don Judges will provide a seamless transition in leadership for the Global Campus,” said Provost Ashok Saxena. “He has been a key part of every major decision since joining the Global Campus and looks forward to continuing its forward momentum.”

The Global Campus is a support unit for online, distance and continuing education for the Fayetteville campus, including its academic units that develop online degree programs and courses.
