Former Tyson Foods exec Greg Lee named a director for Akeso Biomedical
VIC portfolio company Akeso Biomedical announced the appointment of Greg Lee to its board of directors to help commercialize new food safety technology developed by the startup.
Lee most recently was president of Tyson Foods International and chief administrative officer of Tyson Foods until his retirement in 2007. Since then Lee has served on a number of boards, and is active in assisting companies developing new technologies.
“Greg brings global experience as one of the food industry’s top operating executives. His knowledge of the poultry industry as well as other sectors of the food industry will be invaluable to Akeso as we transition to a commercial company,” said Simon Williams, CEO of Akeso Biomedical.
He adds Lee’s appointment follows the USDA’s recent decision to implement new federal standards to reduce salmonella and campylobacter in chicken and turkey products.
Akeso Biomedical is developing a new class of proprietary compounds that are designed to reduce the infection of poultry and other animals by campylobacter, salmonella, and E. coli.
