Baldor Electric receives a product of the year award
Baldor Electric Co. was one of the winners of Plant Engineering magazine’s 2015 Product of the Year Awards for developing the Tigear-2 Ultra Kleen gear reducer.
The company was honored at the 2016 Engineering Awards in Manufacturing ceremony in Chicago on March 21 hosted by both Plant Engineering and Control Engineering magazines. The company will also be featured in the April 2016 print edition of the popular industry trade publication.
The 2015 Product of the Year program consisted of 15 categories with 52 winners and was the 28th time the annual competition was held. Billed as a “celebration of all that is new and innovative in product development,” the ceremony recognized the Tigear-2 as its Silver Award selection in the Electric Motors and Drives category. It tied with the Allen-Bradley Kinetix 5700 Servo Drive from Rockwell Automation and beat out Bronze Award winner Extreme Duck Ultra from Leeson Electric. TEAO Cooling Tower Motors from Regal’s Marathon Motors captured top honors with the category’s Gold Award.
Tigear-2 is stainless steel with a sanitary design that is sealed against high pressure, high temperature, and caustic washdown environments. The gear reducer also features input ratings up to 5HP, and comes in five case sizes. Ben Hinds works as product manager for Tigear-2 and Quantis product lines.
The Plant Engineering website has more information on the awards, and Baldor’s website offers an in-depth explanation on how the Tigear-2 operates.
