Tyson Foods, Tyson Family donate $200,000 to Little Rock hunger relief agency
Tyson Foods and the Tyson family are partnering on a $200,000 donation to the Watershed Human and Community Development Agency for renovations to its kitchen in Little Rock. The announcement was made during a recent event honoring Rev. Hezekiah Stewart, executive director of the Watershed.
“For more than 20 years the Tyson family and Tyson Foods have proudly supported the Watershed in its efforts to provide hunger relief in central Arkansas,” said Tyson Chairman John Tyson. “Rev. Stewart and the Watershed share our core values of making a difference in our communities, and this gift will allow them to further their mission right here in our home state.”
Tyson Foods first donated to the Watershed in 1993 and since then has given nearly 1 million pounds of protein to the organization.
Rev. Stewart and the Mt. Nebo African Methodist Episcopal Church founded the Watershed in 1978. Since its inception, the Watershed has provided 3.2 million meals and has been dedicated to bringing public awareness, resources and support to struggling families in Little Rock, Pulaski County, and the state of Arkansas.
