In-store pick-up for online deals growing in popularity at Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club is cashing in on the rollout of its Club Pick-up for online orders, which is commonly known in the industry as “click and collect,” according to a recent report form Slice Intelligence.
The market group selected a variety of retailers actively using “click and collect” or store pick-up options throughout the past year. Sam’s Club registered the biggest benefit with 30.2% of its overall sales being those orders placed online and then picked up at the club location of their choosing.
Slice reported that among the group of 12 retailers it reviewed that “click and collect” accounted for 6.7% of sales in 2015, up from 6.4% in 2014. Despite all the effort Wal-Mart Stores has expended to rollout its in-store pickup over the past year the number of online sales picked up in-stores remains in the single digits, according to the Slice data.
Another unlikely winner turned out to be K-Mart, registering 22.6% of its online sales which were picked up in-store.
