Craighead County Farm Bureau to host candidate forum
A candidate forum in Jonesboro next month will give voters an opportunity to match a face with the name, just 10 days before the March 1 primary, a coordinator for the event said this week.
The Craighead County Farm Bureau will host a “Meet the Candidate” forum at 11 a.m. Feb. 20 at the NEA Exposition and Conference Center, 7001 East Johnson Ave., in Jonesboro.
Debbie Smith with the Craighead County Farm Bureau said the event gives candidates an opportunity to speak about issues and allows voters to learn more about the candidates.
The candidates typically get about three minutes to talk about their campaign, with federal, state, county and judicial candidates expected to be there. Josh Cureton, Craighead County Farm Bureau president, said they anticipate about 40 candidates to be at the event, which will also be simulcast on www.kait8.com.
KAIT is also a content partner of Talk Business and Politics.
Early voting for the March 1 primary goes from Feb. 16 to Feb. 29 around the state. Smith said the group hosts the forum in a non-partisan manner and attempts to help voters more about the issues.
